Optimists die first

I honestly really enjoyed this book. I don't tend to read that many contemporaries, but for once, the title was all I needed to try this story.

The truth is, the book is fine. The problem is, it's COMPLETELY unoriginal.

This is a quick and really enjoyable read about a pessimistic teen with anxiety who falls in love with a cheerful aspiring director with a metal arm. Petula is afraid to be optimistic after a family tragedy she feels responsible for, so it was great seeing her interact with Jacob who, while outwardly optimistic, is reticent over his pain due to a tragic incident in his own past.
