Particle and wave

“Hydrogen,” the opening poem in this, Landry’s second collection, draws the reader out of the mythic past, from “the heat generated / by Daphne transformed into laurel,” and down to the buzz of the present as captured in the whir of a single electron orbiting the nucleus of the eponymous element. In this way, Landry immediately showcases the range of his project in this book that structures itself as a tour through the periodic table.
